Hello, I’m Cheryl (pronouns: she/her)
Life does not come with an an owners manual to help us make decisions. When should I get married (do I want to get married?), have children (what if I do not want children?), or change careers (is it too late to go back to school at my age?). Why am I feeling sad when everyone else around me seems happy? Why don’t my parents understand this is who I am and they shouldn’t try to change me? Who can help me understand how to make the right decision for me? The right path for you may be the opposite of someone else’s life path and that is okay! I strongly believe every human being has the right to live a life they want to live. You are unique with a story all your own. Let’s work together to see how your story makes you who you are and help you learn to make decisions that resonate with your true authentic self.
My childhood was unique in that my father was an enlisted soldier for the United States Army (Hooah!). My travels opened my eyes to the similarities and differences we all experience in life. Encountering different ethnicities, cultural norms, and ways of relating to one another has taught me we all struggle from time to time but we all want to be happy. A parent in Germany may provide a different meal for their children, but they work toward the same goal as parents in the US. Our differences make us different and alike at the same time.
I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). I am a LPCA (Licensed Professional Counselor Associate), and I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) certified through NBCC (National Board for Certified Counselors). I am a strong believer in the process of therapy and I also believe engaging in therapy is an important part of living. Whether you are in need of guidance during a crisis, in need of a better understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, or if you want to talk about a life experience in a safe space free of judgment, I am here to help. Time with me is time specifically for you and it is is filled with empathy and compassion. I am here to work with you toward your goals.
If you feel therapy is a step you want to take, please feel free to contact me to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation or schedule your first appointment.
